UNIQUE GENETICS, EXCEPTIONAL RESULTS
Harnessing decades of research and farmer-led trials to deliver hybrids that thrive in Africa’s toughest conditions.
At Delta Saad, we believe true innovation lies in genetics that are not only high performing, but also locally adapted. Our breeding program combines elite international germplasm with more than 50 years of South African field knowledge — resulting in hybrids that consistently deliver under real farming conditions.
Our research is conducted in Kroonstad and Ventersburg, supported by a state-of-the-art processing plant in Kroonstad. Hybrid seed production takes place in Lichtenburg, Limpopo, and Komatipoort, ensuring a strong and reliable supply chain.
We focus on breeding maize cultivars with:
Our breeding efforts are rooted in local germplasm, refined for resilience over five decades, and strengthened with the best U.S. genetics — the backbone of their corn seed industry. This combination allows us to balance global innovation with local adaptation, producing hybrids that thrive in diverse South African climates.
Delta Saad places the highest value on yield stability, especially with the challenges posed by shifting weather patterns. Every variety we release undergoes extensive trials for drought tolerance, heat resilience, disease tolerance, and prolific yield. By combining advanced research with farmer-led testing, we ensure stability, grain quality, standability, and dependable performance — season after season.
Delta Seed offers cultivars with both GMO and NON-GMO technology. Our development is guided by highly qualified breeders with international experience, ensuring every seed is crafted with precision, innovation, and trust.
What our genetics have to offer

By combining advanced research with farmer-led
testing, we ensure stability, grain quality, strong standability, and
dependable performance season after season.
Each year, our research program develops promising new hybrid combinations. Before any cultivar is released, it undergoes rigorous evaluation — starting with small-scale production and progressing to comparative on-farm trials with local growers.
We value farmer feedback as an essential part of the
process. Only once a hybrid has proven its performance in both trials and
real-world conditions do we bring it to market — ensuring every release is
reliable, resilient, and farmer-approved.
Our priority is to develop hybrids that perform consistently — year after year, regardless of temperature or rainfall. Every hybrid is designed with strong disease tolerance and proven resilience under stress conditions.
Many of our varieties are multi-cobbing, providing greater stability and the ability to capitalize on favorable conditions by producing additional ears and improved grain fill. We also focus on hybrids that perform well at lower plant populations, helping farmers reduce risk while maintaining excellent yield potential.
